Luckin Coffee brings Butterbear drinks to its US menu

Luckin Coffee is extending its partnership with Thailand’s Butterbear character to its United States menu. A trade report published on 8 October 2026 announces two drinks: the Iced Butterbear Latte and the Butterbear Americano, both combining coffee with caramel and buttery flavour notes.
The latte uses espresso and Luckin’s velvet milk for a creamier profile. The Americano keeps a more coffee-forward base, then adds the same caramel and butter direction plus a small amount of velvet milk. This gives the collaboration two distinct drinking occasions rather than one flavour presented in different cup sizes.
The source contains a date inconsistency: it says the collaboration begins on 12 October, but later says the drinks are available ‘starting today’. Readers should therefore verify the participating store and ordering status in the Luckin Coffee USA app before making a trip. Availability is presented as limited to participating US locations.
The campaign is useful as a brand-development case study. A character partnership supplies packaging, story and social-media recognition, while the two recipes translate the same theme into a milk drink and a lighter Americano. Coffee-Explorer can assess whether the coffee remains identifiable beneath the flavour concept.
A fair tasting would compare sweetness, coffee intensity and milk balance without assuming that collaboration merchandise determines drink quality. The strongest retail lesson is to design one campaign idea across several genuinely different products, while publishing clear dates and store availability.
Coffee-Explorer tip
Check the ordering app before travelling for a limited drink. Launch announcements and participating-store availability do not always match.
