Mega Coffee enters Cambodia with a flagship built for longer visits

South Korea’s Mega Coffee has entered Cambodia with a flagship store in Phnom Penh. World Coffee Portal reported the opening on 8 October 2026, shortly after the chain reached 4,500 outlets in its domestic market. Cambodia becomes its second international market following a first overseas move into Mongolia.

The format is strategically notable. Mega Coffee built much of its South Korean scale through small, value-focused grab-and-go stores. The Phnom Penh flagship is designed for longer visits, suggesting that international expansion will not rely on copying the home-market footprint without modification.

A flagship can perform several jobs at once: introduce the brand, test menu demand, host social visits and provide a visible base for future partners. It is not evidence by itself that a wider national rollout will succeed. Pricing, local beverages, real-estate economics and service expectations need to be tested over time.

Coffee-Explorer can compare the Cambodian store with Mega Coffee’s Korean model using menu size, seating, ordering flow, cup formats and price positioning. The most useful question is what changed for the local market and what remained central to the brand.

For shop or editorial planning, the story supports a series on Asian value coffee chains and their international localisation. Product recommendations should only use items confirmed in the Cambodian menu rather than assuming that every Korean SKU is available abroad.

Coffee-Explorer tip

When a chain enters a new country, compare the actual local menu and format. The familiar logo may hide a substantially different offer.
