AASCA 2006 National Conference

Australian barista Scott Callaghan has just been appointed the world’s best latte artist after taking the crown in the annual World Latte Art Championship competition in Berne, Switzerland. This prestigious annual event was hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe and took place on 20 May. Scott returns to Australia to host a special Latte Art training session at this year’s Australasian Specialty Coffee Association’s Conference from 23-26 July. Latte Art is just one of the elements incorporated in this comprehensive annual event for the coffee industry. Baristas from across Australia and internationally are invited to participate in any number of workshops, including Scott’s, which will range from the beginner level Introduction to Espresso Skills right through a program enabling participants to obtain an “AASCA Accredited Barista” license, the only industry license available for baristas, and the only measure in Australia of exceptional coffee skills . The AASCA 2006 conference program also includes a wide variety of opportunities and workshops for roasters, growers and retailers.
