Belgium – the third best coffee nation of the world
During the SCAE world championships Belgium was brought on the coffeemap.
With Peter Hernou, an independent coffeeconsulent and trainer in different disciplines of coffee, who became World Champion in the SCAE World Latte Art Championship 2009 on the 26th of June the Belgian coffee market gained numerous possibilities: a return for the members and specialy for the sponsors of the association Belgian Coffee Education.
For the World Cuptasting Championship Belgium became 2nd. Bart Van Sanden of Efico (green coffee) represented the country in “cupping Coffee”. Thus Efico has the honour to have the 2nd best cupper of the World.
For the World Czeve/Ibrik Championship Belgium’s Violeta Leci came in 4th. Making a Turkish Coffee, Czeve, Mokka, is the oldest way to make and serve a coffee. Give old culture and traditions to others, taking time to make a coffee and serve is amazing to see .
In the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship it was Ronny Billemon who became 8th. It was the First time for Belgium that someone competed in this discpline of coffee with alcohol.
Earlier this year Melanie Nunes became 27st in de World Barista Championships in Atlanta. She was in the top 5 of the female bariste of the World.
But that is not all. Every year there are made nominaties by SCAE-members for exceptionel serves in the Coffee industry. Also here there was a trophee for Belgium. Rob Berghmans from the espressobar Caffé Nation received an Award for Hidden Treasures
Even the Belgian SCAE national coordiantor, Jeanne Gennar, received a trophee for best national coördinator of the year 2009 for exceptional services rendered to the association and the industry it serves.
Therefore, Belgium became 3rd in the catergorie of best Coffee Nation of the World.
All these people mentioned here, got their titles and trophees because of the enormous support of many people behind the scene
