Pauligs new roastery to come…
Paulig, the well known Finnish roaster, is close to completing construction of its new roastery, a facility that the company plans to use to meet the needs of the domestic Finnish market, and that of the growing market in nearby countries.
Paulig’s new roastery, which is large in scale not only by Finnish standards but globally, is on schedule to begin roasting coffee by mid-2009.
A topping-out party for the building, which is being built at the Vuosaari harbour business park in Helsinki, the Finnish capital, took place in June, and the exterior of the building is already taking shape.
The new roastery is a major investment, not just for Paulig, but for the Helsinki region, the Finnish economy as a whole, and for the countries to which Paulig exports the coffee that it roasts, including the fast-growing Russian market and other countries in the Baltic region, which are also growing markets for Paulig.
Minna Forsström, Gustav Paulig Ltd’s project manager for the new roastery, who has led the project from the drawing-board, told C&CI that she was happy with the progress of the project to date.
Apart from housing Paulig’s new roasting facility, the new building will also provide offices for staff from Gustav Paulig Ltd, Paulig Pro Ltd, Paulig Ltd and Santa Maria Finland Ltd – more than 200 people in all, who will move into the new facility in the autumn of 2009, when the Paulig’s existing roastery will be wound up.
