ZUS Coffee is the largest coffee chain operator in Malaysia, having surpassed Starbucks with over 1,000 stores regionally as of late 2025, with a significant concentration in Kuala Lumpur.   Founded in 2019 by Venon Tian and Ian Chua, the brand positions itself as “a necessity, not a luxury,” offering affordable specialty coffee through a tech-driven, grab-and-go model that relies heavily on its mobile app for ordering and delivery. 

In Kuala Lumpur, ZUS Coffee is ubiquitous, operating in major shopping malls and commercial hubs such as Pavilion KLMid Valley MegamallBerjaya Times SquareThe Exchange TRX, and KLCC.   The chain has recently engaged in community-focused initiatives like the “Bangun, KL!” program, launched in April 2026, which offers specially priced coffee to early risers across over 250 outlets in KL and Putrajaya to support commuters and foster a vibrant city environment. 

Key characteristics of ZUS Coffee in Kuala Lumpur include:

  • Pricing Strategy: Drinks are priced 10–20% lower than competitors, with some items starting as low as MYR2.99
  • Digital Integration: The proprietary ZUS Coffee app drives approximately 70% of sales, facilitating pre-orders and loyalty rewards. 
  • Product Offerings: The menu features signature drinks like ZUS Gula MelakaSpanish Latte, and Zirty Matcha Latte, alongside Halal-certified food items. 
  • Expansion: While dominant in Malaysia, the brand has expanded to SingaporeBrunei, the Philippines, and Thailand.
