Coffee Community
Testimony to the quality of our training comes from our involvement with major coffee trade associations, the UK and World Barista Championships, and a host of requests to train all over the world, including America, the Middle East, and specialist courses in the heart of the Italian espresso market, Milan.
Managing Director, Paul Meikle-Janney, started Coffee Community in 1999, after years working in the catering industry and lecturing at Huddersfield University. He has been involved in writing both the City & Guilds Barista Qualification and the SCAE Qualification.
He was awarded a “Hotel & Caterer Acorn Award” for his expertise in catering back in 1998, and since then has focused on the coffee industry.
He has been heavily involved in the UK and World Barista Championship, was part of the UK barista team that won the SCAE World Team Challenge Cup in 2006, and is currently Director of the World Coffee in Good Spirits Competition.
Coffee Community coordinate a team of barista trainers around the country that represent a “who’s who” of coffee expertise, with many awards between them.
Since 1999 Coffee Community have been leaders in barista training, café consultancy, and bar design and fabrication.
As barista trainers, Coffee Community advise some of the best known brands in the country as well as running regular courses in Italy, Europe, the US and the Middle East. Dedicated to furthering quality coffee we have helped write barista qualifications for the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe, City & Guilds, NCFE, and the BSA. From the basics through to more advanced techniques Coffee Community can help.
Coffee Community’s consultancy has helped many to start or improve their café brands. Our café audit program, with web based results service, is used worldwide, and our coffee knowledge has also helped design machines and blends for many major clients.
